How to trim and resize a video is a basic knowledge everyone editing videos must know. However, not all video editing software can do it easily and smoothly.
I´ve tried various video editing software, professional and non-professional, and I´ve found that this option is the easiest, one that makes it possible to speed the editing process, save time and get better results.

Camtasia is for me the best option for trimming and resizing your videos, either horizontal or vertical.
Why is this the best option to trim and resize a video?
It´s the best because the options for resizing and trimming are in front of you, not hidden under other views or in long menus, you don´t need to change panels and it lets you move and place your videos as you please with ease.
A brief tutorial to show you How to trim and resize a video
To begin with, set the size of your video in the video settings, create the tracks that you will need, import your media and place it on your timeline.

You may also need to remove the green screen from your videos, if you don´t know how to do it, check this tutorial to learn the easiest way to do it.
Once your project is set and ready for work, use the options on top of the main central window.
The first one is the Edit option, when you hover over it, it displays a description of what you can do with it, namely: Edit, move, resize and rotate your media.
The second one is the pan option, which is used to drag the canvas for a better view.
The third one is the Crop option, this can trim areas of your video that you need to remove; for example, when you record your face horizontally but need to reduce it and make it vertical to place on top of another video.
So, to use the move and resize option, click on your video on the timeline and then click on the tool on top of the main video window, you will notice that little circles appear on the corners and the middle of each side of the video, to resize it, simply click on and drag one of the little circles, the video will change size keeping the image proportions.
To move your media, click on the video and drag it to the desired place on the canvas.
Now, to trim your media, click on it on the timeline, then click on the Crop tool on top of the video screen, you will notice that small squares appear on the corners and the middle of the sides of the media, to trim it, click and grab the desired square on the side or corner to the new position, the media is trimmed in front of you and you can adjust it to perfection.
Once your media is trimmed and resized, place it as you wish and you will have your video nice and ready for exporting and posting.
That´s it, trimming, resizing, and placing, easily with a few steps.
